  • DEUTSCHE REICHSBAHN ADLER, 28,1/2″ (72.5cm) TRAIN EAGLE BY RHEINMETALL BORSIG, COMPLETE WITH IT’S ORIGINAL ‘D’ & ‘R’ LETTERS

DEUTSCHE REICHSBAHN ADLER, 28,1/2″ (72.5cm) TRAIN EAGLE BY RHEINMETALL BORSIG, COMPLETE WITH IT’S ORIGINAL ‘D’ & ‘R’ LETTERS

A fabulous Original Larger sized Deutsche Reichsbahn train eagle (Adler) manufactured by Rheinmetal Borsig. With a wingspan of just over 28,1/2 inches (72.5cm) it looks quite spectacular, featuring superb detail to the eagle’s body feathers and outstretched wing feathers, head, and of course, the wreathed swastika clutched in the eagle’s claws. The eagle’s wing and head edges display the usual manufacturer’s finishing, file marks. The reverse side is also highly detailed, especially the wing feathers. Just above the reverse wreath and between the claws are all the identifiers, including maker mark, which comprises of two inter-linked impressed circles with ‘Rheinmetall’ in one and ‘Borsig’ in the other, below the maker marks can be seen impressed stamps for the metal element compounds ‘GAL-Mg-Si’ (Galvanized Aluminum, Magnesium and Silicone). There were originaly three threaded mounting posts on this eagle which have been almost completely ground/filed down, and the center of each has been drilled out and threaded by a past owner to accomodate mounting screws.
This fabulous Deutsche Reichsbahn Eagle would be an amazing and must have addition to any collection on it’s own, but this eagle does not come alone, it is accompanied by it’s original Deutsche Reichsbahn ‘D’ and ‘R’ letters!
Two Incredibly rare, original, letters, ‘D’ & ‘R’ , which are size-matched to their accompanying eagle, as detailed above. Assumably produced from the same aluminium alloy as the eagle (there are no markings to reverse), the letters display a fantastic prismatic style which simply look amazing when displayed with their eagle, flanking the wreathed swastika. To the reverse of both letters can be seen the remnants of where three threaded attachment posts would have been, now grinded down flat to the surface. On each letter there are two tiny (2mm) threaded holes which a past owner had used to mount for display.
This Deutsche Reichsban eagle and letters set is not from an American or British Veteran bring back, which is the norm these days, on the contrary this eagle has never left Germany, and had been in a German collection since the end of WWII, adding just a little more desirability to this incredibly rare set!

A superb example of an original DR Eagle and letters set, an absolute must have for the Deutsche Reichsbahn or Third Reich collector, no collection will ever be complete without these!

Many photographs have been taken under various lighting and situations, please see the gallery, if further photos wanted then please do not hesitate to ask!

    Condition:
Used items that display some surface marks and scratches, filing marks to eagle’s edges as per usual, absolutley incredible display piece, and a superb investment.

Adolf Hitler Solid Silver Formal Apettizer/desert fork from The Führerbau, with provenance

Adolf Hitler Solid Silver Formal Apettizer/desert fork from The Führerbau, with provenance

A superb solid silver Apettizer/desert fork from Adolf Hitler’s personal formal silverware, it features an embossed Fuehrer Adler (the Leader’s Eagle) clutching a wreathed Swastika which is flanked by Hitler’s initials ‘A’ & ‘H’. The reverse side of the spoon has the impressed hallmarks; a crescent moon, the imperial crown, the silver purity mark ‘800′, and the imperial eagle. There is a fabulous impressed greek-key ‘Meander’ border along all edges of the front side of the fork handle.

Originally there are believed to have been six complete sets of 500 pieces, 3,000 pieces in total, commissioned by Albert Speer and manufactured by Bruckmann in the ‘formal pattern’ of silver flatware and tableware presented to Hitler on the event of his 50th birthday on 20th April 1939. The formal silverware sets were distributed among the places Hitler frequented the most; the ‘Berghof’ (Hitler’s mountain home), ‘Kehlsteinhaus’ (the Eagle’s Nest), the ‘Gasthaus’ (Guest House) at Obersalzberg, the ‘Braune Haus’ (the ‘Brown House’), the Führerbau in Munich, his ‘Prinzregentenplaz’ apartment in Munich, and the ‘Reichskanzlei’ in Berlin.
These smaller Formal silverware items are much harder to find than the usual large dinner knives and forks, making them very desirable indeed.

The design for the AH Formal silverware is attributed to Adolf Hitler himself adding yet another level of desirable collectability to these pieces!

The fork comes complete with provenance documentation (copy) pertaining to it’s original acquaisition, along with a further 82 pieces of Adolf Hitler silver ware (and other items), by Mr. Baros Wilson of the 48th Combat Engineers, and subsequent sale to Mr. A.W. Wood in 1946. Mr Wilson had obtained the silver from the basement vault underneath the Führerbau in Munich, Germany in 1945.

    Condition:

This beautiful little fork displays minor surface marks commensurate with age and use, a beautiful-looking display piece, a rare ‘Hitler’ personal item, complete with provenance, a very desirable and quite superb investment piece.

  • Bruckmann, Silver Toast Rack from Adolf Hitler’s Dining Wagon 10 ‘242’

Bruckmann, Silver Toast Rack from Adolf Hitler’s Dining Wagon 10 ‘242’

An extremely rare silver toast rack, specially produced by Bruckmann for the Deutsche Reichsbahn Sonderzugs.
The toast rack carries designation marks for Adolf Hitler’s Sonderzug, the ‘Fuhurersonderzug’ (known as ‘Amerika’ in 1940, and later ‘Brandenburg’), and in particular carriage number ‘242’ which was Hitler’s executive dining wagon.
The main body of the rack has slots for eight slices of toast or bread with an elongated lifting handle situated on the centre ring, at each end of the rack is an oval plate, each of which features a finely detailed Deutsche Reichsbahn Eagle with wreathed Swastika straddled by the letters D and R all in relief. There are four ‘ball’ feet to the base, and stamped into the base rim is found the ‘ALPAKA’ silver mark, the Bruckmann ‘train’ makers mark, followed by the impressed number ‘242’ indicating the wagon number.
Please check out our gallery photographs for this piece, we have included some actual images of Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini, along with their respective entourage, on the platform outside wagon number ’10 242’, it is quite extraordinary, or maybe creepy, to know that the toast rack we present here was on that train wagon at that time.
Hitler, himself, would most likely have taken slices of dry bread from this rack, not toast, as he would have prefered to simply take a slice with marmalade or jam!

Without doubt this is one of those ‘If it could talk‘ pieces!

This is one of the rarest of the rare Deutsche Reichsbahn, and Hitler items to find, an unmissable purchase for the diserning collector or museum curator.

Original Third Reich Deutsche Reichsbahn Train Engine Plaque

Original Third Reich Deutsche Reichsbahn Train Engine Plaque

Original Third Reich Deutsche Reichsbahn train engine plaque. These were mounted above a railroad eagle, or/and the engine’s designation number, on the side of WWII German train engines. Made from an alluminium alloy metal, painted black with raised brushed metal, or white painted lettering which says “Deutsche Reichsbahn”, there are six drilled holes where the bolts would have secured it to the engine.
There has been debate as to the ‘thickness’ of Third Reich period engine plates as opposed to those manufactured post war, with the war produced plaques measuring about 3-4mm thick and post war ones from about 5-6.5mm in thickness, this original war time plaque is in the 3-3.5mm range.
This fabulous train plaque has belonged to one of our colectors for over 50 years, it is in totally original condition and without any restoration, it has been simply boxed and stored away.
This plaque still retains some encrusted engine soot. The letters are the brushed metal type, and are a bit dirty and grubby looking. Unfortunately we don’t know the train engine number but it must have been an extremely hard working beast. A totally superb piece in completely original, untouched condition.

These Third Reich Deutsche Reichsbahn engine plaques are becoming very scarce, with one at recent auction fetching upwards of £1,000. So here is a great opportunity to catch a super original example, an amazing historical and future investment piece.

    Condition:

The plaque has been well used, having been stuck to the engine housing of an extremely hard working train for many years, so there are surface marks in the metal and letters. It is uncleaned, dirty and grubby. The reverse displays alloy corrosion. A quite superb center piece for any Third Reich Deutsche Reichsban collection display.
