  • Very Large Third Reich Naval Jack (Göschen), 500 x 300cm, Flown from the Bow of a German Warship

Very Large Third Reich Naval Jack (Göschen), 500 x 300cm, Flown from the Bow of a German Warship

THIRD REICH NAVAL JACK,  Nationalflagge und Gösch der Kriegsschiffe
Third Reich flag, 500cm x 300cm (196.85″ x 118.11″), a “Goesch”, or naval jack, flown from the bow of German-flagged warships and merchant shipping. The flag is constructed of red wool bunting with a clamp-dyed black mobile swastika within a white disk slightly offset towards the hoist (which differentiates it from the State flag). Several rows of reinforcing stitching are visible along the edges. The hoist itself has reinforcing squares at the corners and a sewn-in rope. It is stamped with a Kriegsmarine property stamp, depicting an encircled swastika over the initial “M”, in black ink, along with the designation “Göschen 500 x 300”, also another ink stamp indicating the place of manfacture “Buntstoff Berlin”.

    Condition:

A well used WWII Naval flag which has surface marks and some staining, a few very small holes, hoist a bit darkened, dusty looking. Wonderful vintage musty smell overall, has never been washed, does not glow under black light. It is huge and a fabulous looking display piece, if one has the room!
