£1,09900

Bruckmann Silver Iced Beverage Spoon from Hermann Göring’s Guest Wagon 10 ‘233’

A Fantastic example of this rare Bruckmann Iced Beverage Spoon, specially produced for the Deutsche Reichsbahn Sonderzugs.
The long-handled spoon carries designation marks for Hermann Göring’s Sonderzug ‘Asien’, and in particular carriage number ‘233’ which was Göring’s guest wagon.
The lower part of the handle is accentuated with a raised edge to obverse and reverse. The obverse features a rather more worn but still detailed Deutsche Reichsbahn Eagle with wreathed Swastika straddled by the letters D and R all in relief to the bottom of the handle. To the reverse on the long stem is found the stamped Bruckmann ‘B’  along with a locomotive symbol makers mark, followed by ’90’ indicating silver plate, and then the impressed number ‘233’ indicating the wagon number.

‘As this spoon indicates, there was more going on in the “breakfast” rooms than breakfast….. Here again, Göring has surpassed our expectations for self-indulgence treating his special guests to private dining whereas AH sends everyone to the dining wagons.’ —  Quote from James A Yannes book ‘The Special Trains of Hitler, Goring et al’
