Adolf Hitler Floral & Ribbon Pattern Formal Napkin & Silver Formal Napkin Ring Set from The Berghof

Adolf Hitler Floral & Ribbon Pattern Formal Napkin & Silver Formal Napkin Ring Set from The Berghof

A fabulous Adolf Hitler Formal napkin and napkin ring set used for the most formal of occasions when Hitler held VIP dinners and parties, most especially at his mountain retreat in Obersalzberg, The Berghof.
The set comprises an absolutely beautiful off-white coloured linen napkin that has a lovely silky feel and displays a wonderful sheen effect which is brought to prominence by the interwoven patterns. The beautiful flowing ribbon and floral design covers the entire napkin, the ribbon travels around all sides set in from the edge by about 8cm, two flowers & foliage intersect the ribbon on each edge then four flowers are off-set inside the outer pattern, the design can be seen on the napkin reverse. A large stitched Fuehrer Adler (the Leader’s Eagle) clutching a wreathed Swastika which is flanked by Hitler’s initials ‘A’ & ‘H’  is situated inside the ribbon pattern to the lower right side (or left side depending on which way it is being held!).

To finish the set is a quite superb silver napkin ring from Adolf Hitler’s personal formal silverware, it features a large embossed Fuehrer Adler (the Leader’s Eagle) clutching a wreathed Swastika which is flanked by Hitler’s initials ‘A’ & ‘H’. The opposite side of the ring has the impressed Bruckmann maker mark along with the further hallmarks; a crescent moon, the imperial crown, the imperial eagle, and the silver purity mark ‘935’. The top and bottom of the ring have an impressed greek-key ‘Meander’ border.
Originally there are believed to have been six complete sets of 500 pieces, 3,000 pieces in total, commissioned by Albert Speer and manufactured by Bruckmann in the ‘formal pattern’ of silver flatware and tableware presented to Hitler on the event of his 50th birthday on 20th April 1939. The formal silverware sets were distributed among the places Hitler frequented the most; the ‘Berghof’ (Hitler’s mountain home), ‘Kehlsteinhaus’ (the Eagle’s Nest), the ‘Gasthaus’ (Guest House) at Obersalzberg, the ‘Braune Haus’ (the ‘Brown House’), his ‘Prinzregentenplaz’ apartment in Munich, and the ‘Reichskanzlei’ in Berlin.

The Formal pattern AH silver napkin rings can also be found with ‘800’ and ‘925’ purity stamps.

The design for the AH Formal silverware is attributed to Adolf Hitler himself adding yet another level of desirable collectability to these pieces!

An overall incredible set used at special dining events at Hitler`s home, The Berghof, which was definitely in the presence of if not used by high ranking military and political officers maybe even Hitler himself?
A superb display and investment piece.

Deutsche Reichsbahn Informal Linen Napkin from Hermann Göring`s First Dining Wagon 10 ‘241’ (Larger size)

Deutsche Reichsbahn Informal Linen Napkin from Hermann Göring`s First Dining Wagon 10 ‘241’

Beautiful light cream (off-white) Informal linen Napkin produced for the Deutsche Reichsbahn Sonderzugs.

An extremely rare Deutsche Reichsbahn, Third Reich cloth item, an informal napkin, DR formal napkins have a dimension of approximately 34cm x 34cm and these informal ones are substantially larger and produced from lighter and more standard linen cloth.
This napkin has an even smoother feel to it than the other ‘241’ offered on this site, the material is brighter, the borders are of a different size, but just like the other napkin it displays a wonderful sheen effect with two-tone stitching. A quite stunning Eagle and Swastika Deutsche Reichsbahn Motif is machine stitched to the center and can be seen in reverse to the backside, this eagle motif is also larger than the other napkin. The napkin carries a designation mark for Hermann Göring`s First Dining Wagon 10 ‘241’ this is in the form of a stitched number “241” to the lower-left corner.
It could be assumed that this napkin came from a different manufacturer, or maybe it’s just a unique variant.

Deutsche Reichsbahn Formal Napkin & Silver Napkin Ring Set from Hermann Göring`s Dining Wagon 10 ‘243’

A fabulous little napkin and napkin ring set used on Hermann Göring`s Dining Wagon 10 ‘243’, 243 was commissioned as Göring`s main dining wagon when his primary dining wagon, 10 241 was removed from service for upgrades which included the fitting of an electric kitchen and indirect fluorescent lighting. 243 became the reserve dining wagon when 241’s upgrade was completed.
The set comprises a beautiful light cream-coloured linen napkin produced specifically for the Deutsche Reichsbahn Sonderzugs, the napkin has a lovely silky feel and displays a wonderful sheen effect with two-tone stitching creating a smooth, almost golden-coloured inner border to the obverse and to the inside square on the reverse. The napkin carries a designation mark for Hermann Göring`s ‘Asia’, and in particular carriage number ‘243’ which is identified in the form of a stitched number “243” to the lower-left corner of the inner border.

The Silver Napkin Ring is oval-shaped with a rolled top and bottom edge, it is marked with the engraved letters ‘DR’ (Deutsche Reichsbahn) centered on the front face, and centered on the opposite side is the number ’37’ which most probably relates to the table or place setting. To the bottom edge of one of the elongated sides is the Bruckmann maker mark, a ‘B’ along with a small locomotive, and on the other end is the stamped ‘243’ which is the wagon designation.

A super-rare Deutsche Reichsbahn, Hermann Göring pairing of matching napkin and napkin ring used on Göring`s 243 dining wagon on Sonderzug Asia. Anice display and investment piece.

    Condition:

The napkin is in absolutely beautiful condition, has no rips or tears, and is very clean. There is some ‘spotting’ in the form of tiny lightish-brown marks, otherwise minor cloth creases due to folding which could be ironed out if so wished.

The napkin ring is in superb condition with just some minor surface wear, tiny surface marks, and scratches, there is a patina spot off to the left of the ‘DR’.
