Bruckmann & Sohne Silver Fruit/Dessert Knife from Adolf Hitler`s First Dining Wagon 10 ‘242’ (#2)

Bruckmann & Sohne Silver Fruit/Dessert Knife from Adolf Hitler`s First Dining Wagon 10 ‘242’

A Fabulous and very rare art deco-styled Bruckmann & Sohne Silver Fruit/Dessert Knife, specially produced for the Deutsche Reichsbahn Sonderzugs.
This diminutive little knife is truly beautiful, a miniature version of the much larger diner knife in the same style. This magnificent little one was used on Hitler’s very first dining wagon ‘242’ on the first Führersonderzug, and Hitler may well have used this very knife to cut his banana, or apple, at the breakfast, lunch or dinner table?
The knife handle has a tapered edge to obverse and reverse and is angled & tapered to the base. The obverse features a finely detailed Deutsche Reichsbahn Eagle with wreathed Swastika straddled by the letters D and R all in relief to the bottom of the handle, to the top of the handle is the impressed Bruckmann & Sohne ‘RM800 Eagle and Crown’ (indicating 800 silver content) makers mark. To the reverse handle top is found the impressed number ‘242’ indicating the wagon designation number.
The blade is stainless steel and carries the cartouche stamping ‘W’ for Gustav Wirth of Solingen-Graefrath over Nicht Rostend.
