  • Bruckmann & Sohne Silver Lidded Bottle Pourer from Joseph Goebbel`s Personal Wagon 10 ‘207’

Bruckmann & Sohne Silver Lidded Bottle Pourer from Joseph Goebbel`s Personal Wagon 10 ‘207’

An incredibly rare Bruckmann & Sohne Silver Bottle Pourer, specially produced for the Deutsche Reichsbahn Sonderzugs.
The bottle pourer carries designation marks for Joseph Goebbel`s Personal Wagon number ‘207’ (which could be attached to various Sonderzugs and regular trains as required), it is complete with the original cork.
The lid is dome shaped, and is hinged on one side, above the hinge is a little lever and it’s here that we find the number ‘207’ impressed into the silver. Just off to the left of the lever and one millimeter above the lip edge is found the stamped Bruckmann & Sohne ‘cresent moon, crown, 800, and Eagle’ (indicating 800 silver content) makers mark.To the lid front are the letters ‘D’ & ‘R indicating it’s use with the Deutsche Reichsbahn. Also, another little stamp can be found to the inside of the hinge, the number ‘6’ which indicates the pourer size. As mentioned the pourer is complete with it’s original cork (I wonder what bottle of wine or liquor it was last used on?), and the breather tube.

Very few of these little bottle pourers were produced for the Sonderzugs and are extremely rare to find, maybe even unique, but with this incredibly rare one we know where it was used and on what train wagon, and by whom, none other than the Third Reich’s, Propaganda Minister Joseph Gobbels. This is definately one of those ‘if only it could talk’ items!

DEUTSCHE REICHSBAHN ADLER, 27″ (68cm) TRAIN EAGLE BY ‘PS’, LOK 680

DEUTSCHE REICHSBAHN ADLER, 27″ (68cm) TRAIN EAGLE BY ‘PS’ LOK 680

A fabulous Original Deutsche Reichsbahn train eagle (Adler) manufactured by ‘PS’. Uncleaned and unpolished, it looks quite spectacular, in most occasions these eagles have been polished to within inches of their lives, which of course removes all that fabulous patina and history, this one is quite ‘dusty’ looking, and with lots of dark areas in creases, pits and crevasses within the design, could be soot, or paint, but it is part of it’s history. This Eagle still has all of its threaded posts on the back which are uncut, and all the same size, 1,3/8″ (3cm) along with two of its original nuts. It is a 27 inch wing span version, but actually measures  out, tip to tip, at 27,1/4″ (69.2cm), and 13,7/8″ (35.2cm) form the top of the head to the bottom of the wreathed swastika. The detail is amazing overall, with a superb wing feather structure, and wreathed swastika, the eagle’s beak is pinpoint sharp! The reverse carries all the identifiers, including maker mark, which is an impressed circle with a ‘P’ above an ‘S’, this manufacturer is still quite elusive as even after considerable research the actual factory hasn’t become clear, further marks are for the eagle size ‘LOK 680’, metal element compounds ‘GAL-Mg-Si’ (Galvanized Aluminum, Magnesium and Silicone), and then to the center is   ‘LOK’ over ‘RZA 5’, over ‘BLN’.
A superb example of an original DR Eagle, becoming very hard to find in original condition, an absolute must have for the Deutsche Reichsbahn or Third Reich collector, no collection is complete without one of these!
