£2,69500

Bruckmann, Silver Hot Water Pitcher from Hermann Göring’s Dining Wagon 10 ‘243’

A lovely, and super rare ‘Alpaka’ silver, Bruckmann Hot water pitcher, specially produced for the Deutsche Reichsbahn Sonderzugs.
The pitcher/jug carries designation marks for Hermann Göring’s Sonderzug ‘Asien’, and in particular carriage number ‘243’ which was Göring’s dining wagon.
The body of the pitcher features a fantastic and finely detailed Deutsche Reichsbahn Eagle with wreathed Swastika straddled by the letters D and R all in relief, centered to the upper half. There is a short stumpy spout to one side and a three section handle with wood spacers to the opposite side. The handle would originally have had ceramic heat disapating washers over the wood spacers, but these are now long gone to time. To the base is found the stamped Bruckmann ‘train’ makers mark, followed by ‘ALPAKA’ for heavy German silver plate, and then the impressed number ‘243’ indicating the wagon number. There is a little number ‘4’ to the base and again stamped into the lower inside of the handle, this would be a table number designation on the train wagon.

The pitcher comes with a (copy) letter of provenance from Lt. Col Joseph A. kehborn, U.S. Air Force.

Condition:

A beautiful piece, which, as a used item displays surface marks and scratches, also some small dings to the main body, overall a beautiful display piece and extremely rare Göring DR utensil.

Sold out.
