Deutsche Reichsbahn Silver Lidded Ground Pepper Shaker from the Führersonderzug
A super little Silver lidded Pepper shaker, produced for the Deutsche Reichsbahn, and in particular Adolf Hitler’s Führersonderzug, by WMF, Wurttembergische Metallwarenfabrik.
To the front of the lid are the designation marks for the Deutsche Reichsbahn, ‘D’ & ‘R’, immpressed into the silver, this mark is in the least often seen style of lettering. On the opposite side are the little silver manufacturer marks ‘WMF’, a cresent moon, a crown, and the silver purity mark ‘835’. The glass is eight sidded and there are some mouldy remnants of the original contents which can be seen inside the bottle on the bottom.
This would have been used throughout the Führersonderzug, along with a salt shaker.
Condition:
The shaker displays tiny surface marks and and some mild tarnishing, glass bottle is complete and undamaged, overall superb condition, a lovely little display piece. Excellent investment piece.
