NSDAP Formal Silverware Matchstick Box Holder & Ashtray by Wellner
A fabulous and very rare silver plated matchbox holder & ashtray by famous German silversmith Wellner. Used at formal gatherings and party meetings of the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei). A superb design, featuring a ten place, removable, cigarette tray, with a raised matchbox holder to the center. It displays an engraved NSDAP Eagle & wreathed swastika centered to the upper front of the holder. To the reverse is found the maker mark ‘Wellner’, followed by a small circle with the number ‘7’, which indicates the silver content, this marking is repeated on the underside of the removable tray. The matchbox holder still retains it’s tight sprung matchbox holding design. A very rare, early, NSDAP Formal silver tableware piece.
Condition:
The Ashtray, matchbox holder combination is in superb condition, it does display some minor surface marks, and scratches, otherwise absolutley beautiful, a fabulous display piece. Super rare piece making for excellent investment potential.
