Description
Nymphenburg Porcelain Lidded Sugar Bowl from Adolf Hitler’s Sonderzug.
A beautiful snow-white porcelain, lidded sugar bowl, specially produced by the Nymphenburg factory in Munich for the Deutsche Reichsbahn Sonderzugs.
The bowl is from Adolf Hitler’s Sonderzug, the`Fuhrersonderzug’, and carries no wagon number, identifying it as a ‘floater’, or spare piece, one which could be used on any wagon on the train, especially when a larger than usual event was taking place requiring extra utensils.
The highly glazed porcelain is accentuated with a fabulous gold trim to the top rim, the lid has a gold top to the lifter. Centered to the main body of the bowl is the Deutsche Reichsbahn insignia, a gold eagle with wreathed swastika straddled by the letters D and R. To the underside is found the green Nymphenburg crest, an impressed Nymphenburg shield, and numbers; ‘1 1/2’, probably indicating size or capacity.
