Silver ‘Alpaka’ Large Oval Serving Tray from Hermann Göring’s Dining Wagon 10 ‘243’
A Fabulous, Large Oval Serving Tray. Made from German heavy silver plate, ‘Alpaka’ produced by Bruckmann for the Deutsche Reichsbahn Sonderzugs.
The tray carries designation marks for Hermann Göring’s Sonderzug ‘Asien’, and in particular carriage number ‘243’ which was Göring’s dining wagon.
The tray is accentuated with a raised rounded band edge to the top rim, a fantastic and finely detailed Deutsche Reichsbahn Eagle with wreathed Swastika straddled by the letters D and R all in relief is centered to the top rim. To the underside is found the stamped Bruckmann ‘B’ along with a ‘locomotive’ makers mark, followed by ’ALPAKA’ indicating heavy silver plate, and then the impressed number ‘243’ indicating the wagon number.
Condition:
A used item that displays surface marks and scratches, otherwise superb condition, a superb investment piece, and displays beautifully.
